Project Description

WYLIE’S BATHS, COOGEE
Public Facilities
Client: Randwick City Council
Value: $300,000
Overview

Henry Alexander Wylie, a champion long distance, and underwater swimmer established Wylie’s Baths in 1907. The Baths were one of the first mixed gender bathing pools in Australia and is one of the last surviving examples of a venue which was once common throughout Sydney. Upgrade works by Randwick City Council ensure this historic pool will continue to be a much loved public recreation facility in the Coogee area.

Development

Integrated development for upgrade works to Wylie’s Baths including repairs to pool walls, installation of pre-cast wall panels to the upper portions of the northern and southern pool walls, new steps into the pool and a new pool valve in the eastern wall of the pool. Aspects of the site have been upgraded and adapted to meet the needs of a modern community, whilst retaining the historical integrity of the original facility.

Our Involvement

City Plan had been engaged on to provide Certification Services for all stages of the upgrade works on this iconic heritage listed site.
