University of New England (UNE) Armidale undertook a review of its existing student accommodation. This was part of a broader review which sought to confirm how the university could remain attractive for both regional and international students. UNE has commenced a building program to increase its overall supply of student accommodation. This consent for Robb College will be the first of several redevelopments of existing, or development of new accommodation facilities.
The approved development was for the construction of student accommodation, comprising of:
- Construction of 3 predominately 2 storey buildings for residential student accommodation, providing 192 beds;
- Provision of six (6) new car parking spaces; and
- Associated landscaping works, external works and footpaths.
City Plan provided strategic planning advice and prepared a Development Application for the proposal. Services involved determining the appropriate approval pathway, contributing to the development design, advising on technical reports to accompany the application and liaising with the approval authority.
