Project Description

SHEPHERDS HILL DEFENCE GROUP
Conservation Management Plan
Client: Newcastle City Council
Commissioned: 2016
Overview

Newcastle City Council commissioned the production of a Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for the Shepherds Hill Defence Group in February 2016. The CMP was to detail the sites heritage significance, outline polices to retain its significance, identify future use options in accordance with the polices, and provide a detailed framework for the maintenance and care to guide Newcastle City Council in the short, medium and long term.

Our Involvement

City Plan Heritage (CPH) lead a team of consultants, including structural engineers from Mott McDonald, an archaeologist from JCIS Consultants, historian Dr Terry Kass and landscape architect Chris Betteridge from MUSEcape. Extensive consultation with Newcastle City Council and with the community was undertaken throughout the process and we have continued to provide ongoing heritage consultancy services throughout the endorsement process with the Heritage Council. The CMP was endorsed by the Heritage Council of NSW in July 2019.
