Overview

When completed 161 Castlereagh Street will be a 43 storey commercial tower in the heart of Sydney CBD.

Development

The erection on a 43 storey commercial tower, with ground and basement level retail and a mid-block link from Castlereagh Street to Pitt Street; 3 basement levels for 116 car spaces; retention and restoration of Legion House; retention of the Grand United Building and ground level improvements; establishment of a pedestrian link into Piccadilly Plaza and staged works to its Castlereagh Street façade’ demolition of all other buildings on site; site amalgamation onto one title (excluding the Grand United Building); and the fitout of ANZ Head office.

In 2012, CPH provided heritage advice to Sydney Ports Corporation in relation to the White Bay 5 Cruise Passenger Terminal. Advice was in relation to the presence of former rail tracks & sleepers that were not suitable for salvaging or reuse. The approved development was for a dedicated cruise passenger terminal that replaced Barangaroo.
