The NSW Government Architect is currently drafting a new Design and Place SEPP.
This SEPP is intended to set out a baseline for “good” design rather than establish benchmarks – giving architects, urban designers and the like the opportunity to go above and beyond to achieve good design.
A principles and performance-based policy approach is being taken in the drafting of the new SEPP, with the Government Architect NSW referring to SEPP 65 and the Apartment Design Guide for inspiration.
The draft Design and Place SEPP is expected to go on exhibition towards the end of year. Please get in contact with Ashleigh Coombes if you would like more information on how this SEPP or other planning reforms may impact your project.
